Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that affects more than 45 million worldwide, in Europe, its estimated to affect up to 1 in 10 people (NHS.UK2018). It affects women more than men and mainly presents in Caucasian fair-skinned population. Although the exact cause and pathogenesis (the manner of development) of the the disease is unknown, dysregulation of the immune system, overgrowth of (normal skin flora), commensal organisms, dysfunctional neurovascular signalling and genetics may all play a role in rosacea’s clinical features.
